Research Interest

I am interested in using biotechnology tools on wildlife (fauna) models for long-term conservation and management of protected areas and natural habitats.  Borneo as the center of high biodiversity provide good test bed to interface both new biotechnology and classical concepts which is useful for application in management of wildlife in national parks, sanctuary and reserves.  I would like to major in Molecular Systematics and Phylogenetics, for my M.S. and Ph.D.

Currently, I am working on my graduate studies at Texas Tech University under the supervision of Prof. Robert J. Baker. My interest is on the systematics and taxonomy of Indo-Malayan mammals. My thesis research focuses on the alpha-systematics of Malaysian bats.  I use morphology and molecular tools to identify the evolutionary lineages that can be then used to established taxonomic units.  I aim to understand the diversity of several genera in these groups, looking for common patterns in their distribution and origin.
