Research interest
The properties of nanoparticles are influenced by their size, shape, size distribution and surface functionalities. My current research focuses on synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials such as magnetic nanoparticles, silica and polymer nanocapsules with tailored size, size distribution, shape and surface functionalities for biomedical applications. Magnetic nanopaticles encapsulated in silica or polymer nanocapsules have great potential in biomedical applications such as contrast agent for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and as magnetic targeted drug delivery carriers.

My other research interest includes development of starch-based gel electrolytes and nanostructured metal oxide electrode materials for the fabrication of supercapcitors and related charge-storage devices (in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pang Suh Cem).
