Natural resources need to be exploited and utilised in a sustainable way. The growing population of Malaysia, coupled with increased demands for raw materials from industries, have a deep impact on the country’s natural resources and heritage. A deep understanding as well as prudent utilisation and management strategies are of utmost importance in striking a balance between exploitation and conservation of the nation’s natural resources. The country therefore needs to train scientists capable of utilising the latest technology and techniques towards fulfilling this objective.

The faculty aspires to be a major centre for learning and research, and the preferred choice for students and researchers in natural resource science and technology. Accordingly, the faculty introduces an integrated curriculum and academic programmes, capable of meeting the demands, challenges, and changes of the 21st century. The faculty emphasises on innovative, multidiscipline, quality and practical-based curriculum design and research programmes, relevant to the socio-economic development of the country. In addition, the faculty aims to play a major role in the advancement of science and technology in the country through active participation in technology transfer and promotion of co-operation between universities, government agencies, and industries.
